Beware of AMAC Advertisers
Permalink

I just recently joined because because of what I see is a conservative organization that is hopefully there in my best interest. However I just received Vol 6 Issue 2 magazine. Reading through it I found an advertizement for a Product that claims that you can dump your cable and pull in great free tv with no bills. Well Of course I did not order this because it's so very easy these days to check out these claims. Sorry to say this product failed in every aspect. Here is a link to information on this subject.

I am very upset that I've paid good money to join AMAC and find that they do not vet their advertisers. This ad is going to trick many of your members into buying this crap. Shame on you AMAC! I'm new and I'm not incapacitaded so far and I watch out for myself in these matters. So many pieces of **** out there willing to take us for a ride so I don't need AMAC to help us along. AMAC please start vetting your advertisers and make sure if they claim something it better be true. If not this is my last year for you. I left AARP for this reason!!!!!!

I too have had a very disappointing experience with the insurance vendor. The quote was 6 times what I am paying through AARP. I am sorry I joined for more than 1 year. Everything I've received or looked into sounded good, but isn't really a discount at all.

I needed to update my insurance policies for car, home and cycle, went to an agency that was supposed to be an agent for Travelers as was suggested on the site. The agent tried to set me up with another company and the rate was higher than I had been paying even though I showed him what I was currently paying, he also did not respond to my initial visit for over a week! Needless to say I didn't purchase insurance from this guy. AMAC's reputation and future will depend upon quality of service provided by those who are recommended by AMAC so it is important to get it right the first time and every time.

I have removed several posts complaining that AMAC did not meet there expectation and they will be signing up for a competitor company.

Now we value you opinion and this topic here is to help AMAC help it's members NOT to promote a competitor company. If you are unhappy with your membership and have a SUGGESTION place it here, I personally will try to have the issue looked at and taken care of.

This is no place to promote another organization all posts of the sort will be removed and the user will be warned. Continued posts will lead to a banned account.

I  apologize for the bad experiance and hope this doesn't happen to you or any other future member. I know that we have had MANY good experiances with Travelers home an auto insurance. I do know however different rates vary from area to area even person to person with unique driving situations.

I agree with some of these post, I am very disappointed with AMAC Insurance Providers. I priced Life insurance and it is so much more expensive than the policy I have with AARP, I was discussed.

I came to AMAC because I heard the advertisement by Rush Limbaugh, and been looking for a Conservative Service so I won't be forced to pay for AARP Life Insurance. But this doesn't do it for me. I more than likely  will  not renew at the end of my 1 year.

People join AMAC mostly because we represent our members and others in Washington, not because we give a cheaper life insurance rate compared to AARP. Although we offer many good benefits as a growing organization we are constantly looking for more and better benefits and weeding out the bad isn't always the easiest process. But with your help we can make it better. I work directly with the AMAC team that puts all this together so let me know and I can let it be known.

As for as life insurance rates,I do have my Life Insurance License and from what I know about the product (due to the limited information provided) if you are comparing an older policy to a newer policy generally the rates will not be the same being your age and health are the biggest reasons for the rates you see (assuming the amount and duration is the same). You would need to compare to NEW, identical policies to get an accurate comparison for rates. Also, these policies are very unique to the individual and the carrier and is always worth a shot to get quoted.

I joined for your claim to be the "conservative alternative to AARP". I assumed you vetted the advertisers you offer members on this "conservative alternative to AARP" as being conservative based businesses with the same conservative views and values as we the members demand. Travelers Insurance, I believe is an affiliate to the Tides foundation. TIDES FOUNDATION AND TIDES CENTER:  http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/funderprofile.asp?fndid=5184   ,George Soros - Enemy of the Free Market:  http://www.earstohear.net/soros.html   ,Oragnizations affiliated with the Tides Foundation (about 45 seconds to appear) :  http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/Thinkmap%20SDK%202.5%20Standard%20Edition/webapp/TM-1VER/index.asp?keyword=Tides%20Foundation%20and%20Tides%20Center

Just a suggestion to please vet your advertisers, or at least acknowledge those conservative based businesses. I promise your membership will rise once you make it easier for conservatives like me to come to a one stop and shop site that offers what we need. I'm doing all I can to NOT do business with companies hurting my country.

Thank you.

Chworr,

Was suprised by what you wrote. I looked it up myself. You are correct, TIDES FOUNDATION and TIDES CENTER are left wing groups. I think not only AMAC but ALL of us need to pay attention to companies and ideas that we intend to support. It takes just a few minutes to Goggle a company or investment area. Glad to see someone seeing things that most of us overlooked, or were unaware of...

I TOO joined AMAC to get away from the liberal advertisers and content of AARP.  I so hope AMAC will thrive, but also better vet its advertisers.  It is a LOT of work and expense, but is what we "seniors" need and expect.  HOWEVER, it is still my responsibility to check into any business I intend to give my business.  I earnestly attempt to do business with conservative, American, companies who hire only Americans and do NOT outsource off-shore.  Companies like Southwest Air, Amica, etc.  ashamed

I also like to buy American. That being said I understand why companies move overseas. There are several reasons that are very apparent.

!. High Corporate taxes, The US has the highest corporate rate of any developed country, up to 39%.

                                        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates_around_the_world

2. Government Regulations. The US has more business regulations than any country, also add state and local mandates. For example the case of the girl who got busted for selling lemonade, she did not have a permit. That incident shows the incredulous set of regulations companies now have to deal with in America, and the bureaucrats without common sense who administer them.

3. Greedy Unions. Just look a Chicago today. The teachers' union wants a 30% pay increase from a city that is on the verge of bankruptcy. Need I say more about unions?

http://www.policymic.com/articles/14474/chicago-teachers-strike-proves-what-scott-walker-knows-all-too-well-unions-are-greedy-and-unnecessary

4. Lack of skilled workers. Many firms are actively seeking employees, but few can be found that meet the demands of the job.

I wish I could buy everything  "Made in America", but then reality sets in. I have to live within my means, unlike our government.
