This book has opened my eyes to the world as I have never seen it.    I had no idea that human life has always been so cheap.  I knew about the roman gladiators and such but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Sadly, I see the world reverting back to that mind set, including the USA.  It's heartbreaking to think that so many people have no respect for life.    Unless of course it's the life of a seal, or whale, or some kind of insect or bird that mankind is encroaching upon. 

The book is a good read, it can be a little slow at times but very eye opening and mind boggling.
