Have watched Lone Survivor twice now, and in my opinion it will become one of those war movies considered realistic enough to be called a classic! I wouldn't have watched it twice had I not thought so.
Without giving the story line away, it is based upon an actual SEAL mission that took place in Afghanistan a few years ago, but regretably this mission was a failure. In my opinion there are three reasons why it failed; a lack of reliable communications, a lack of dedicated backup assets, and unrealistic rules of engagement set forth by our politictians. Had there been no comm failure, the alleged "vote" that can also be considered to be a reason for failure would not have taken place.
