PH in the body - acidic or alkaline

Steve - from what I have read, when your system is too acidic, that is when you can have problems with gout.  If you want to check the PH in your body, there are kits available.  I think you can ask for them in the pharamceutical area of a store.  Some other health food stores have them, such as Sprouts.  The kit has strips in it.  Put the strip in your mouth, first thing in the morning before eating.  Compare the color at the end of the strip with the color chart in the kit.  It should be in the middle - a dark green.  If not, you need to adjust your diet.  I think it is good to check your PH at least once a month, and maybe twice.

Hi, Smarty,

Hm, that assumes that either the pH of one's mouth is the important thing or is representative of the important thing. Since the mouth is one of the parts of the body most exposed to the external environment, that doesn't seem to me to be very likely. In fact, I'd expect the pH of the mouth to be one of the most variable of the body, even after a night when you don't intentionally put anything into it other than air.

Steve - I don't know the answer to that.  All I know is that the kit comes with little plastic strips, that you put into your mouth.  Whatever the reason why, it will show the PH in your body.  We have a kit, and use it once a month.  The strips show the PH in your body in a few seconds.  I know at Christmas time, I was eating way to many sweets.  It sure showed in the lbs. gained, and in the PH strips.  I went back to avoiding sugar as much as possible, after Christmas. Now Valentine's Day, and chocolate! Oh me, oh my!

I thought PH stood for Pursuit of Happiness and that keeping it in balance meant no play before the work is done. LOL.

Steve - I think you may have that right.  Pursuit of happiness, that's what the Constitution says, so guess 'tis so.  We all deserve to have our life be the best that it can be - physically, environmentally, and financially.  Especially at the age of retirement!

Hi, Smarty,

"Steve - ...?" It think you meant FOTH -- it was he who posted the "pursuit of happiness" remark. smile

Steve, excuse me for my mistake.  It was Foth, and not you.  Please remember that I am a newbie.  Takes a little time to learn new things.
