To turn this country around in the right direction, voting rights should be restricted to those that pay taxes only. Those that leach off of others should be denied. We do not live in a democracy we live a republic.
Good idea, but it will never work as long as the democrats get a sizeable amount of their votes from this group. Democrats will keep giving the freebies as long as they get the votes.

I agree with the sentiment but as Stockman indicated, it will never happen. Aside from the fact that the Democrats will not let it happen (it would require a Constitutional amendment which requires two thirds of both Houses of Congress and then be ratified by three-fourths of the states) it would be largely unworkable to implement. For instance a person may be a taxpayer this year but perhaps due to change of fortune not pay taxes next year, then again pay taxes the following year. The local county auditor’s office which must certify each voters eligibility would be hard-put to track who did and did not pay taxes during any given election cycle.
However, something on a lesser scale may be possible at a local level in regard to voter levies and bond measures which increase a property tax against property. I believe it would be possible to limit voting on such measures to property owners. And I think it would be good policy. If you don’t own property upon which the tax will be applied then you should not be allowed to vote to have the tax added. In such an election, a person would simply have to show their property tax ID number in order to receive a ballot on the measure. Of course this would be done state by state not nationally.
That is a topic I will be talking to my state legislators about at the end of the current legislative session. (Right now all they have time to talk about is the many piles of legislation on the docket in front of them.) So wish me luck. LOL. In the meantime, I would be interested in what knowing what anyone on this forum things about such a proposal.
