What does AMAC say?

Everyone has an opinion on gun laws.  Some want them tighter, some want the Second Amendment to be the main guideline.  A lot of gun stores have seen an increase in gun sales since the President  hinted at stronger gun control. A great many people have purchased guns because they feel if stronger gun laws are passed, they may not be able to purchase a weapon for defense of their families and home defense.

Many feel as I do that if the government calls for citizens to turn in their weapons, only the bad people will have guns, and every citizen will become a potential victim.  I have not noted any stance taken by AMAC.  Anyone know what is AMAC's position on this?

After some research I stumbled on to The Dick Act of 1902, that states that all Americans have the right to keep and own arms, so I don't know where the President or certain Congressman are coming from in trying to restrict the citizens from possessing guns.

Second Amendment- the right to bear arms

We believe that the Second Amendment, which states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”, is an integral part of our freedom.

AMAC supports the Constitution of the United States of America and our Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment. Exercising the right to keep and bear arms demands the utmost responsibility, but we believe the Second Amendment guarantees our inalienable right to keep and bear arms. We urge all gun owners and users to be safe and responsible. Of course, firearms should only be obtained and used legally. We believe that all gun owners and users should attend courses led by certified instructors to learn the safe and proper use of firearms.

Thanks for the reply. I failed to read the whole Key Stance that AMAC takes, and thus missed their position on the Second Amendment. As a weapons instructor (in my younger years) you are so correct in stating a gun owner needs to have gun safety and usage taught by certified weapons instructors. I was always glad to get a student(s) that had never fired a weapon before. They had "no bad habits to break", and were always receptive to what you wanted to teach them.
