There are a couple of great books about the real river boat guys in Vietnam written by a local here in Las Vegas. His name is Ralph Christopher. and his books are hard hitting honest fact filled great reading. One book is called "RIVER RATS", and tells it the way it was, not the movie version, of happening on the rivers and the other book, (whick I think is even better) is "DUTY, HONOR, SACRAFICE" Both can be gotten on Amazon.com.
Many of us that have been in NAM know that a lot of "make believe", and "pretend" takes place in a lot of books. Read these and see "how it really was".
Tom, have you heard of the book “Iron Butterfly,” which is also by Ralph Christopher?It came out in 2010.It is probably similar to the true stories you read about in “River Rats.”
Eagle, I have met Ralph Christppher, and he is a very down to earth type guy. He has the Iron Butterfly book, and a CD also about Viet Nam. I like his writing style.
