I am 74 years old, which is family record for male lineage; the closest to me was my brother who died at 65; my father was 64 & his father was 63. I have well controlled Type 2 diabetes with anA1C of 5.2 which my doctor is almost like not having diabetes. I am a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and have over 30 years experience in the insurance profession. I am also Enrolled to Practice before the Internal Revenue Service (Enrolled Agent/EA). I'm also a member of the IRS Cadre of Volunteer Speakers. I prepare tax returns & represent people before the IRS. I have been a Life Member of the National Rifle Association for 50 years, first joining when a member of a company rifle/pistol team in the Marine Corps Reserve.
I dropped AARP because it supports what I consider unAmerican socialist positions. I believe we need to keep Medicare, including Medicare Advantage plans for us old codgers, but for people 55 & younger the HSA type will be better. It would have been good to have had HSA's before Medicare was enacted. Most of the individual health plans I sold had deductibles high enough to qualify for MSA or HSA. Many times I've said that a Church or friends may be able to help raise $5,000, but not 250,000. I tell people: "eat right & save premium dollars".
