Wonder why

Have been reading on face book, (not always the most reliable source) that the Department of Homeland Security, (DHS) has been placing large orders of ammunition to different manufacturers.  BY large I am talking not just a few thousand rounds, but in one case 146,000 rounds for the weather bureau, and 76,000 for  the Social Security Offices.  All these rounds are hollow points.  Hollow points are designed to impact, spread out, (cause massive shock) and not leave the body.  Military ammo is a jacketed round designed to penetrate, and pass thru a person.  Wonder  why the Weather Bureau and the Social Security needs hollow point ammo in such great quantities?   Even for training that is a huge amount of  ammo.  Also,  standard jacketed ammo is much cheaper than hollow points.

Earlier this year the Department of Homeland Security ran a drill called Operation Shield which included turning the entrance of a Florida Social Security office into a checkpoint manned by Federal Protective Service officers armed with semiautomatic rifles.

Do you think our government is preparing for civil unrest caused by a financial collapse on a scale similar or even larger to scenes already witnessed in Europe over the last two years?

Yes I do... The ammunition purchased , (according to what I have read) is 9mm and .40 cal hollow points. Hollow points are not combat type ammo as they tend to mash and have limited penetrating power. The idea being they will not go thru two or three people, and the damage is extensive.

Besides the ammunition orders, the DHS recently put out an order for riot gear in preparation for the upcoming DNC, RNC and presidential inauguration.  The U.S. Army is also busy buying similar equipment.

The DHS also purchased a number of bullet-proof checkpoint booths that include ‘stop and go’ lights.

Tom, could these checkpoint booths be what you described in another post, ("fold up towers with heavy glass, and small ports on them”)?

Yes they prpbably are. I just love a transparent government. No one has said a word about the riot gear, towers and ammo. (according to a reilable source,) (third toilet from the left), THe government is also conducting extensive testing of drones at Yakama Washington range, White Sands, New Mexico range, and Camp McCoy, Wisconsin are taking place daily. Really makes a person wonder...

Ammo is dry, bayonet is sharp. Am too old to have fear. Hoping the ammo corrodes, and the blade rusts, but if not, it's going to take a lot of people to get them from me...

Senior citizens on patrol?  I'm ready.  I have already stacked sandbags all around my trailer and bought a war surplus helmet.  Bring it on!

Depending on the area you live in, you might consider the following: A body needs water. Water is too heavy to carry long distances, (I live in the desert) If, for some reason I have to leave this place, I have some 500 ml bottles of water that fit nicely in a tube sock along with cans of food or fruit that can be attached to my back pack. Water everywhere is going to be a needed comodity. Alot of people forget that their toilet tank holds a gallon of water, (do not drink if a toilet bowl cleaner is in the water). A person can live longer without food than they can without water. A person can be real inventive in creating weapons if the need arises, many common household items can become great weapons. DO NOT SELL YOURSELF SHORT...

Extra water is always a good thing to keep on hand for emergencies like natural disasters, water main breaks, etc.  You can safely store it in those heavy 5 gallon plastic containers with tight-fitting lids.  Add half a teaspoon of household chlorine bleach, (5 percent sodium hypochlorite solution, and not the scented type) for every five gallons of clear water, and it should remain drinkable for several years.   Be sure to store it away from sunlight.

Speaking of storing things, here is a little heads up.  Now is the time to restock your pantry with extra canned corn.  Because of the severe drought in many areas of the U.S. and especially in the Corn Belt this year, the price of corn is projected to climb a lot higher than it is now.  My family and I use corn in many of our recipes, and hate to be without it, so just this week, we bought 4 cases at Costco, hoping to avoid higher prices later on.

Unfortunately, since corn is also used for cattle feed, the price of beef and dairy products will in all probably increase too.  Pray for rain for what remains of this years and next year’s crop.  What else can we do?

Many things are made from corn, or corn oil. Prices are going to go way up towards the end of this year no matter who wins the election. Stocking up on food items is a good idea, and also having a way to secure them. (Some people will not stock up and could possibly want yours and your families.) I live in the desert, and believe me, I pray every day for rain on our great counrty. Our neighboring states need the rain so we can get drinking water besides saving thier crops.
