My sister's nutritionist is recommending that she switch completely to coconut oil. This nutritionist is said to use an ounce of coconut oil as a 'pick-me-up' during marathons. I can't help but react with a 'REALLY?!?!' I belong to RealAge.com, and there was a discussion there about coconut oil being trendy but not the miracle oil it is reputed to be. I am concerned especially about whether it might have a different temperature for cooking than olive oil, butter, or canola oil. Is there an expert who might inform us?
There are a million "pick me ups". I was watching that Oz doctorshow for a few moments recently and he pushes everything as a pick me up. He is nothing more than a snake oil salesman. As far as pick me ups, I urge one thing; excercise. Sorry, but miracles don't exist but work does. In December of 2011 I started stationary biking and do 35-40 minutes now 6 out of seven days. On the seventh day it is often hard not to bike so I so sometimes I do because my energy level is up there. Coconut oil is I believe 150 calories per tablespoon so I rarely use it. I put it on my skin instead! I have lost 30 lbs. also since starting to bike and that gets my energy up and will continue to eat better until my last day. My spirit is much higher and that is another term for "energy"!!!
