Our recent elections in Wisconsin resulted in a change of Governors from a conservative to an ultra liberal, sadly. For the last two terms our past governor, Scott Walker, managed to take our state out of debt to a substantial surplus, with an increase in employment, historical decrease in unemployment, and new industry moving to our state, all the while decreasing taxes. He championed trade schools to fill the national void of ready to work, skilled laborers, capable of earning substantial pay as the alternative to four year college degrees, not a fit for many. This was an aggressive, positive agenda with many advantages for our state of which will define his legacy.
Now we have Tony Evers, past state superintendent of public schools, at the ready to raise taxes, re-instate many liberal agenda items harmful for the general citizenry to appease pubic service unions, and the cherry on the top; legalizing marijuana. This is a typical, liberal move to bring in what ever money they can to add to their insatiable appetite for revenue to put in to their coffers for reckless spending. The most frightening thing about this push for legalized marijuana is what it will do to our children and crime stats. I recently read an article by Alex Berenson in the Imprimis publication of Hillsdale College that I wish to share. In it, he writes of the profound negative effects on mental illness that marijuana contributes to and debunks the notion of the value of ”medical marijuana” as a smoke-screen and avenue for recreational use. This will be Tony Evers legacy as Governor if it passes. How sad. I hope that this article makes as much sense to many as it did to me, as frightening as it is.
