I am needing Hearing aids, and was amazed at the price, close to $5000 for the pair..  As far as I am concerned this nothing but a rip off...  If cell Companies give away phones, as long as you use their service, there is no way the aid manufactures need to charge those prices..  I understand there are some folks that are trying to get them listed as Consumer Electronics, instead as Medical Devices..  If this were done it would lower the Prices.   There are lower cost devices that I am exploring at this time..  If anyone has Experience with these I would welcome that information   thank you.

I'm on my second pair. You are correct...the price is +/-$5000 at most places. That's what I paid for my first pair. I am a semi-retired CPA. When I did my tax interviews with clients a few of them would tell me they bought new hearing aids and ask about the medical expense deduction. Since my first pair was several years old, I'd ask them where they bought them. The usual answer was Costco. So last May I went to Costco and bought a set. Same brand that the doctor sold me but about half the price. Just remember that the Costco folks are not doctors. If you have medical issues that require a doctor, you should probably see a doctor first.
