Post retirement healthcare when under 65

I just turned 65 and am eligible for Medicare.  My wife is 62 and will lose her healthcare plan if/when I retire because she is under my employers plan.  I want to retire next year when I turn 66 - she will only be 63 and we're not sure what to do about getting her a healthcare plan.  We plan to move to a lower cost of living area which means she will have to quit her job.  I checked Obamacare but even though I would be retired Obamacare will base the premium amount for her on total household income (which would include my retirement income - pension, retirement accounts, social security). This means we probably won't be eligible for any subsidies.  This is not right as far as I am concerned.  She should be able to base her premiums solely on her own income from working but this is another subject.

Just wondering what others are doing in this situation.  Looking for advice and options.   Thanks you in advance for your respose.

I am retiring at 63.  My husband will continue to work, but he is self employed.  What is helping us is our home will be paid off next year and I can take that money to put towards medical insurance.  I detest Obamacare.  I am going to go directly to a insurer to check out costs.
