Having been in the medical field for 44 years, I am now confronted by a Government that is not willing to pay for laboratory testing needed particulalry by the elderly patient. There are a multitude of non FDA tests being performed daily in every hospital and lab in the world. These tests are validated thoroughly before being used for diagnostic/prognostic testing and save the patients/insurance companies hugh amounts of money. However, big Pharma has gone to the States Medicare providers and convinced them to stop paying for non-FDA testing because it is cutting into their profits. Just to give one example, the FDA approved test for bladder cancer screening costs the laboratory nearly $298 to perform but is reimbursed at only $348. the non-FDA approved test costs the lab $38 to perform and saves the patient and insurace company money as well as provides the same accurate analysis for the older patient at high risk for bladder cancer. At a reimbursement rate of $348 and a cost to the lab of $298, what do you think is going to happen to the test? The labs will stop offering the testing because it costs them to perform it. What then happens to the patient with bladder cancer? The cancer spreads to other organs and they pay the ultimate price for the governments stupidity and calousness. This is just ONE test.
The elderly in this country are being systematicaly eliminated by the very government they have served and trusted. I am not on Medicare yet but when I am forced onto it, I have no illusions as to the quality of the care (if any) I will receive.
Hello Karen, If people stop and think about it honestly, we now have a Socialist/ Communist government, which is hell bent to make sure that there are as many abortions as possible performed in this country every year. Now, Obamacare has declared war on the elderly. If you remember the policy of "forced" euthanasia, that was practiced aggressively by Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany. Now the US is doing essentially the same thing.
We are wringing our collective hands about genocide happening in various African countries, but, we are seeing the same kinds of things happening in this country and very few people are screaming from the rooftops. This nonsense by the US government should be cause for mass demonstrations with pitchforks in Washington DC! Joseph McCarthy has indeed been vindicated, hasn't he? When will the masses in the US wake up and, stop electing Communists to positions of power in our government?
Mass Infanticide and Euthanasia, is this what has become of our once great country? If it is, we are doomed as a country!
