What are YOU doing to help turn the tide?

Last election, I got hundreds of email messages about defeating Obama, but I never intended to vote for him, and most of my friends wouldn't either. The folks I know who did are not likely to change their vote because of an email message. What really works? A personal phone call or contact. Please folks, if you REALLY want to turn the tide, call your Republican election headquarters and volunteer an hour or two making calls. It's NOT TOO HARD! I did this last week and talked to two very discouraged Democrats - both said they did not plan to vote for Obama again.

One said many of her friends were also disgusted with him, but why don't the polls better reflect that? I got to explain to her that often pollsters can't reach Republicans as easily as Democrats since most are less likely to participate in polls, etc. - we tend to be a more private bunch. Talking to her ENCOURAGED ME! We need to reach folks out there and help them "over the divide" - many have been life-long Democrats and are having a hard time with the radical shift that the Democratic party is taking. I was raised in a Democratic household as was my husband. 3 of our parents changed over the years to Republican. Both my husband and I are union members but conservative in our faith and politics. We both changed to Republican by the time Reagan was nominated. I told her that and she could really relate. She told me she was not yet ready to change her party affiliation but she did plan to vote a straight Republican ticket this fall. It's her vote that counts, not the party she's registered in!

Another person asked me if they could trust Romney on the subject of abortion, since he changed his original stance a number of years ago. I asked her, Romney says he IS pro-life now, he will have to stand by that, but we know for certain that Obama is pro-obortion, he even voted (in the Illinois senate I think) to end the lives of infants born alive (!) during a "botched" abortion where the late-term baby survived, so we know for certain which way he'll act. That conviced her to vote for Mitt.

It's up to YOU to call and talk to voters. You might not be able to get them to change parties, but the MOST IMPORTANT voter to reach this year is the independent voter. They need some encouragement to make the committment to vote for conservative candidates and issues. A PERSONAL contact will make the difference. Don't waste time forwarding emails and think you've accomplished anything. If you can't volunteer to call, maybe a local candidate needs someone to help hand out flyers, or post signs, or bake cookies for a rally, or donate a big carton of toilet paper or bottled water or reams of paper for headquarters, or decorate the office. Can you at least call and ask? This time, please get off your bottom and get involved! If everyone involved in AMAC talked to at least 1 person and got them to vote conservative, that would make a very big difference in many places where precinct returns are just a few votes apart. EVERY VOTE COUNTS so please get involved! Don't wake up after election day and realize your local candidate or state senator lost by a handful of votes!

Great post Concerned.

I agree with your points. I have also put in time at the local Republican Headquarters  I do not make calls, but I do everything else they need. I stuff envelopes, put together yard signs, man the front desk at times, and any other thing that needs to be done, such as verifying signatures in our Governors' recall election last spring. Since I am retired I was able to voluteer for hundreds of hours doing this. What was great about it was I now have a whole new bunch of friends who have the same basic ideas as I do. It is nice sometimes to talk with someone who talks with you, not down to you like so many know-it-all liberals do.

I would suggest that anyone who has any interest at all to call your local Republican Headquarters and ask what they need done. If they have something that fits your abilities you will derive much satisfaction for actually doing something to change the things you do not agree with, instead of just saying "what can I do"?

Make that call.

Little Did We Know 40 or 50 years ago when we were in high school typing class, we were preparing for today.  Do you remember the sentence we typed over and over until we got it right?

“Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.”

I truly think that now is the time!

Agreed.  Volunteer.  Put out signs, make calls etc.  Go see and take friends to Obama's America 2016.  You can find out online when it is playing.  Currently in Charlotte and Concord, NC.  Also Agenda 21 is being exposed.  Check it out and enlighten anyone who will listen.  We have SO much ammunition in the form of words and recent history, we could talk for hours with anyone who will listen.

A group of concerned citizens formed a group: SWAT - Southern WI Alliance of Taxpayers. We are hosting a Freedom Conference (Oct 2012) with a lineup of 11 speakers each addressing a different topic. It's amazing what a small group of dedicated people can do!!
Many hands make light work.

Hope you are getting some press. Would be nice if you had a crowd. Might try a local talk show as a guest and plug what your group stands for.

Every time I go out I start a conversation about who is going to win the election. Military are for Romney by a huge majority, some veterans are for Obama regardless of my comments, they think Romney will do away with free health care. The answer is, no he won't, he may modify it but will not eliminate or appeal Obamacare, it's too hard to take something away away once it's been given and is law. On AMTRAK I almost punched a guy out but the conductor would have put me off at the next stop-turns out the guy was almost put off due to off-color comments to a man and his wife.

I recommend that we who believe and support conservatism must now show those people and businesses that supported Obama and his LIBERAL followers that ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES! I have removed all so-called friends and relatives that supported or voted for Obama from my email and Facebook “friends” I refuse to communicate with them as we have nothing in common. I am also boycotting ALL businesses that supported Obama and refuse to buy products or services adverted on NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS or in AARP publications. ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!! I request that all good American businesses that supported Romney, openly and publicly declare their support of Conservatives and that we support them by patronizing their businesses. This is the ONLY way we will finally get to the brains of these mentally damaged people!

IMAGINE THE IMPACT THIS WOULD HAVE ON AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
