Heard on the news that it will be at least two years before Mr Holmes comes to trial in Colorado. That means that we the taxpayer, (well, probably the Colorado taxpayer) will provide three squares and a cot for this individual, even before he comes to trial for a couple of years. What happened to the speedy trial thing? Guess that only applies to people like Madoff, and not Colorado killers, or Ft Hood shooters.
Worst part is, even after they get a trial, (if they do) and are given a death sentence, it will still be another 10 or more years of taxpayer support before the sentence will be carried out, if ever.
How did we allow ourselves to get into this position? Is it possible that maybe we have too much compassion for guilty and not enough for the victim? Do we really believe that killers are products of their environment? That they had a deprived childhood, and lousey schools, and that's why they have gone astray.
Do we need to make punishments equal to the crimes? If you shoot a person(s) should you be found guilty and shot? IF you stab someone, should you die by the same means if found guilty? I think so. Compassion for a killer only gets more people killed if he is later released. i.e. What happens if a bear kills a human? The bear is killed. Problem solved. There is no long drawn out process, it is handled immediately. Justice should be fair, and swift. Who are we helping by dragging these things out?
Personally I get this unsettled feeling about this whole thing. I wonder if he wasn't setup to do this by the CIA to foment gun confiscation. It feels like a false flag event with way too many odd things going on around it. The bloody footsteps leading to the exit door on the exterior. He looked drugged. His area of study and how did he buy all the guns and explosives without a job? Just doesn't add up to me. I think he may very well be a victim himself.
Wondered pretty much the same thing, espically doing it in a "gun free zone". I know he was given money for college, (grants or government assistance). Had not picked up on the "bloody foot prints" thing. I agree that in court he did appear to be drugged, but this might of been proposed by his defense to keep him quiet in the court. Will be interesting to see if he gets "accidented" before the trial.
