Does anyone play this genre or listen to it?  I find it very relaxing and enjoyable

I've seen Ledward Kaapana several times on Cable playing his style of Hawaian Slack Key Guitar.  He is quite a showman, and really has some unique arm moves while playing.

Have you heard the hawaiin singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole? He is famous for singing one of the most beautiful versions of Over the Rainbow I have ever heard. I have the CD Facing Future-excellent. He passed away recently- a young man who was extremely obese but his voice was beautiful. I highly recommend it. Also, If you like Hawaiin Music, you should watch the new Hawaii 5-0- they feature some great music and of course , the scenery is beautiful

I read where there were cowboys or something along that line brought guitars to Hawaii. When they left they left the guitars there. The Hawaiians did not know how to play them so they made up their own tunings. So there is the origin of Hawaiian Slack Guitar. It is quite lovely.
