I may have overstepped my bounds?

Here in my community in North Dallas we started a local chapter of the Association of Mature American Citizens/ of North Dallas.  I used by facebook account to post some information.  This was meant to be friends only—or at least members only.  Somehow I screwed those settings and went public.  This has not been approved by AMAC, and I am not sure how it will be received.  But within hours of my first posting I received emails, asking if AMAC actually opened a chapter of the Association of Mature American Citizens/of North Dallas.  The name to which we gave our organization.  We have had requested to joint, requests for more information about our organization.  This may have been a mistake on my part?  But so far it’s been positive.

This is a response to the posted to help stop the confusion.  Then there will be a request sent to the ambassadors program to get this approved/or denied.  If other ambassadors see this as a positive move I would appreciate your support.

Seems to me that it would have been better to have consulted TPTB at AMAC first about your plan but my guess would be that it would tend to result in net positive outcomes. I hope you can work things out with AMAC so that you can get "back in bounds" and continue your local chapter as an official or semi-official organ of AMAC. Good luck!

You may wish to consider changing the "you'er" in your message to "your." smile

I contacted Walgreens about giving discounts to AMAC members because they give discounts to AARP members, I have done alot of business with them for the last few decades, I told the AMAC is a conservative alternative to AARP, and that we as a group deserve a discount just as much as the other group, I hope I didn't over step, but want our members here who shop there to get the same treatment as others

I don't see any harm in it but we are building relationships on a daily basis to provide better benefits and discounts with local and national businesses. We have been gaining more leverage as we grow and there are many new items that will be launching soon, so keep an eye out!

thanks I just don't want to do anything I am not suppose too, just want to get the word out there, and get what others get, spread the news about this conservative opponant to AARP, I was looking for a alternative for the last 7 years, because I will not support anyone or anything that supports obahussein and his liberal agenda, I don't care how many benefits they say they will give me,

I gave them my email and info, is there anyone I should refer them too for this kind of action, I am not really a person who should be contacted about the benefits I am seeking, just wondering

I think you might be a good candidate to be an AMAC Ambassador. You can view and sign up here http://amac.us/amac-ambassador-leadership-program

Also I recommend contact the Ambassador Dept. via e-mail which is ambassador@amac.us

They would be able to guide you better about this stuff then I could.

I'm disappointed back in January I contacted AMAC and the ambassador program and posted the original article here. Unfortunately I've heard no official response from the AMAC. This was the best keystroke mistake I ever made. Almost every week I get more inquiries about how to joining, who are we and what are we trying to do here in North Dallas. Where are we meeting, and when's the next meeting? At the moment we're still just a small neighborhood group in the 55 plus adult community. We reach out and support local candidates and causes. But I feel that we're losing ground to a much more organized AARP presents in the city and state. Growth of an organization comes from advertisement and word of mouth as well as an organization's deed. Local sanctioned activities, programs and organized groups will bring a great awareness to AMAC.(Local organizations are covered much more by local media then national organizations are covered by any media) I hopes sometime in the near future AMAC will realize that my mistake may deserve a closer look. Then we can start building local and state organizations to advance the conservative agenda as well as aged based programs. Moving AMAC into the next stage of growth. If we're going to have a national presence we need a strong state and local base. Local issues, political or age based are the most important issues to people our age. We don't need another organization just to sell insurance at least I don't. There is strength in numbers and there are large numbers of small groups that shape local policies that influence state and national agendas. I hope that if any of you agree with me, that it's time to start organizing local chapters of AMAC. You'll let AMAC hear your views.
