AMAW’S Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Dust off the old ice cream freezer, (hand crank or electric), and let the grandkids have fun making and eating this delicious vanilla ice cream! I’m sure they will share some with you. Note:  There are no eggs in the recipe, so no need to cook the mixture.  (Makes 6 quarts.)

Ingredients:  -  3 cups sugar   -  9 cups  milk   -  1 ½ cans evaporated milk   -  3 T vanilla extract

-  ½+ t salt

Directions:  Blend sugar, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, salt, and 2 cups of milk.  Pour into container and add remaining cups of milk.  Freeze.

Tip:  Churn 1 minute before packing with ice.  Pack ice while motor is running.  Make 2 inch layers ice to ½ cups of rock salt. When motor stops, if electric, immediately unplug.

If you prefer to only make 4 quarts of ice cream, here are the amounts:

2 cups sugar,    6 cups milk,    1 can evaporated milk,    2 T vanilla extract,   1/2 t salt
