Pinched Nerve Question
Permalink

I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my hip. It causes pain in my hip area, groin, lower back, and sometimes in my leg. I went through physical therapy and it did little to help. It still is painful enough to prevent me from doing many things I would like to do.

Just a long shot..... but has anyone here had this and found a remedy?

I would be so grateful for any ideas.

Thanks

I recently had a steroid injection in the SI Joint.  That is the sacro iliac joint.  You may have Sacro Iliac Joint Dysfunction.  Look at information on the internet, and see if those are your symptoms.  My symptoms were of long standing, 5+ years, with no diagnosis.  Lots of visits to the chiropracter, and a couple of injections in the spine (2004).  Finally, this SI injection is a significant help.  The doctor I went to for the injection is called a Physiatrist.  They do non-invasive procedures for a number of conditions to help with nerve entrapment.  My follow-up is in another week, and my SI joint would like another shot of the "juice."  You can have 3 injections during a 6 months period of time.  Hope this helps, and best of luck to you!

usually a pinched nerve is from a spine issue, from old age and deteriorating discs, exercise can sometimes help, but if persistent and worsening symptoms one my need an MRI and see what in happening,,,

I went to the Dr., and she gave me an injection. Unfortunately it did little, if anything, to relieve the pain.

She gave me a photo of my MRI and I could see why I was in pain. My spine is curved a lot in the lower part of my back. Also it is full of arthritis and there are numerous bone spurs growing out of the spine. I also have what is termed spinal stenosis. This is caused by a restriction around the nerves, causing pain or other discomfort.

Over the years I have shrunk almost 2 inches due to spinal compression and curvature. I know my extra weight is not helping, but I have lost 30 pounds in about the last 2 months. I consider that a step in the right direction. The pain has lessened slightly, probably from the weight loss. 30 pounds down and 70 to go to reach my prime weight. Hopefully the pain will diminish as the weight drops.

Good for you! It's really helpful to have such positive reinforcement after doing the right thing almost immediately after doing it, isn't it? biggrin

You are right about that Steve. I am now down about 40 lbs. It is a slow loss, but it continues to go down. :)
